The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is showing revolutionary possibilities. An example is the RealFaceValue app, which allows cosmetic doctors to use AI to show facial simulations of treatments even before the client undergoes the treatment. From idea to innovation: four years of development
The RFV app is the result of four years of intensive research, testing and improvement. What started as a groundbreaking idea has now been developed by a team of AI engineers and medical experts into a reliable tool for cosmetic doctors. This development process has resulted in a robust AI model that continuously evolves and learns from new data. As a result, doctors or consultants can rely on realistic predictions when using the app.

Data and expertise are combined
The model has been developed using generative AI, based on thousands of before-and-after photos of facial treatments. This has resulted in a unique dataset that is not only continuously expanded with new real-world data, but also through the creation of new data and its intelligent use. Additionally, predictions made by the AI model are reviewed by our own team of experts with a proven track record in plastic surgery and injectables. They assess whether the results displayed by the RFV app are realistic and aligned with what is achievable in practice. With unique datasets and expert opinions, the model is continuously trained and improved.

Behavioural scientific research
The app is based on extensive behavioural scientific research, 20+ years of facial congenital and aesthetic treatment experience, machine learning expertise, and vast amounts of data, we created a solution that works as a socio-economic compass of how we perceive each other in today’s society (perceptive intelligence). We focus on appearance and the potential of social attributes in clinical practice. What can actually be achieved by which facial treatments, while staying within the boundaries of natural appearance.

The doctor's judgement is paramount
AI can calculate and predict a great deal, but the experience and judgement of the doctor are irreplaceable. Our app is therefore designed to visually support the work of the cosmetic doctor during consultations. It provides an objective view of potential treatment outcomes, which the doctor can fine-tune in the app based on their experience and expertise. This allows the doctor to work with the client to determine the most suitable treatment, based on results shown on photos of the client’s face that are indistinguishable from real life.

Doctors we speak to indicate that managing client expectations is the most challenging aspect of the profession, and that using the RFV app greatly helps them with this. What do clients think?
Clients are surprised at the capabilities of the app and say that showing treatment results in advance on their own face is of great value. It helps them to make choices and gives confidence in the outcome. Good to know: clients understand that it is a realistic representation, which can always deviate from reality. This is evident from our survey of clients where the app was used in consultations.

Security and privacy
Working with personal data requires the highest level of care. Therefore, we follow the European GDPR privacy guidelines and comply with the applicable laws and regulations. The data processed in our app are encrypted and securely processed. The personal data used and the predicted outcomes in the app can only be accessed by the attending doctor. It is also only the doctor who works with all functionalities in the app and knows how to handle them in the right way.
